Brighteye's Momentum Monitoring feature keeps track of the infrastructure and application health on the customer's shop floor. It captures different key performance indicators such as CPU load and memory consumption, as well as monitoring internal events like timing, requests per second, and queues in Momentum. Finally, Momentum Monitoring also tracks dependencies such as printing, production equipment, or even the SQL server.
All these are visualized in comprehensible dashboards with the possibility to send alerts when anomalies are detected or certain thresholds are exceeded.
Business continuity
Being able to maintain business operations even during disruptive external events and internal crises is the dream of any manufacturer. Where Brighteye's Momentum could already help customers deal with external disrupts, it can now monitor and prevent issues that may arise due to internal IT/OT system disrupts as well.
“While Momentum Monitoring started as a mere reactive service made to run in the background of operations and to react in case of emergencies, today it is much more than that. The tool can perform health checks of the IT infrastructure, database, CPU consumption, storage space, network speed, ...” – Stijn Roggeman, CEO at Brighteye
It is also possible to set up alarms and triggers to keep updated on all these health checks and receive a notification when something goes wrong or set reminders when to perform maintenance of the database for example.
Monitoring user adoption
The key to any successful MOM project is the people using the system. Multiple reasons could factor in why operators or supervisors possibly dislike using new software. Momentum Monitoring enables IT/OT personnel to pinpoint some of the root causes and makes continuous improvement of the application landscape possible. This can range from the wrong usage of the software to configuration errors that can lead to long loading times for example.
These problems are typically not reported to the IT support department, but cause frustration and hinder user adoption. Thanks to Momentum Monitoring these types of issues are now easily identified and solved.
