Warehouse
Management System

A WMS system is a must-have for effective supply chain

management. Brighteye offers a warehouse management

system that stands alone or is integrated into the MES,

quality management system, and scheduler.

Momentum's WMS is the best way to optimize

logistics operations.

What is a Warehouse Management System (WMS)?

A warehouse management system is, as the name suggests, a software that supports companies in managing their warehouse and logistics operations. Receiving goods, inventory management, track and trace, order picking, and sending goods: it all gets managed in the WMS platform.

The advantages of effective warehouse management

Any company that receives and sends goods can benefit from a warehouse management system to make its logistic processes more efficient.

  • Effective labor thanks to wayfinding, labor forecasting, and optimized order picking to limit travel time.
  • Reduced waste through automated picking lists.
  • Increased inventory visibility
  • Lower expenses through optimized space, reduced waste, and labor efficiency.

Brighteye's WMS: advanced inventory management

The WMS module provides streamlined stock management for raw materials, semi-manufactures, and finished products. This module coordinates all material movements during the production process based on real production requirements. Materials movements are recorded in real-time via data communications with barcode scanners and RFID equipment, which enables the WMS module to calculate future stock requirements based on reserved product quantities for planned orders and ordered raw materials.

The six elements of Momentum's WMS

1. Inbound logistics

  • Quality testing of received goods, when combined with QMS-module

  • Interface with ERP for preparation of receptions
  • Use the mobile terminal (Momentum Operations UI) for scanning received goods
  • Create reception tasks for unannounced or deviating receptions
  • Provide validation and feedback to ERP of actual received goods

2. Warehousing

  • Overall inventory management

  • Allocate storage space according to put-away strategies
  • Manage reservations of storage spaces for expected receptions and/or work-in-progress
  • Apply optimization heuristics for optimal usage of available storage spaces
  • Manage automated or ad hoc warehousing reshuffle

3. Outbound logistics

  • Prepare shipments when announced via the ERP interface

  • Manage optimal selection of goods based on optimization heuristics
  • Meet all necessary requirements such as FIFO, LIFO, FEFO, lot integrity, etc.
  • Define and allocate shipments to designated shipment zones

4. Logistics flow

  • Configure logistic flows and movement on the production floor, between areas, work centers, etc.

  • Link logistic movements to the production process and productology
  • Pull or push the production from the supply chain, in sync with the production schedule
  • Ensure lifecycle information for all production lots such as used raw materials and packaging materials, linked operations and stock movements, etc.

5. Warehouse execution

  • Create warehouse tasks for warehouse operators or automated equipment (cranes, Automated Guided Vehicles, etc.)

  • Send instructions to Momentum Operator for timely execution with forklifts, reach trucks, manual picking, etc.
  • Set triggers for logistic movements and tasks, such as replenishment for minimal stock levels or maximum stock levels for QHES reasons
  • Follow up on the status of executions and work-in-progress

6. Real-time inventory

  • Record, calculate, and/or trace materials consumption and track the origin of materials

  • Get detailed inventory overview dashboards for all stored goods and graphical interfaces with warehouse overview
  • Configure grid views for a deep understanding of product and material ‘whereabouts’
  • Track stock levels of half-produced goods and work-in-progress
  • Set proactive triggers and alerts for possible inventory issues, in sync with the APS module
